Camaleón amigurumi

Continuamos la serie de animales amigurumi con este gracioso camaleón:

La figura se comienza tejiendo la característica cabeza con forma de pirámide, y  luego se inserta el cuerpo, haciéndolo curvo y terminándolo en una cola en espiral. Una peculiaridad del tronco del camaleón es que la parte curva tiene la mitad de los puntos altos y la otra mitad bajos, para poder dar la forma deseada. De esta manera, en la barriguilla se ven las filas más apretadas que en el lomo.

Aquí se pueden apreciar los puntos de las vueltas que constituyen la parte arqueada del cuerpo.

Después se añaden las patas (¡tienen dos dedos! ^^) y los ojos, comenzándolos a tejer insertando los puntos directamente en el cuerpo o la cabeza, respectivamente. Por último, se añaden los detalles de color en el lomo y las aristas de la cabeza, para hacerlo más atractivo.

Todo el muñeco está hecho con hilo de algodón del número 8 y el relleno es algodón. Para las pupilas de los ojos, el hilo se cosió con una aguja lanera.

Llavero de elefante

Esta semana traemos nuevamente una creación de ganchillo, para poder decorar bolsos, mochilas, o para acompañar nuestras llaves. Un llavero de elefante:

Para su confección se necesita:

– Hilo de algodón. En este caso es del número 9.

– Ganchillo. Utilizamos también el número 9.

– Algodón para el relleno.

– Retales, abalorios y colgantes, para adornar.

– Una cadenita de llavero.

El patrón lo podéis conseguir pinchando aquí, así como en la sección «Biblioteca».

Hacer el llavero es sencillo: se tienen que tejer dos elefantes como el que aparece en el patrón, y después juntarlos por el borde con punto enano .( ¡Antes de cerrar del todo se tiene que meter el algodón!). Luego es cuestión de imaginación, para decorar el elefantito a nuestro gusto. En este caso que mostramos, añadimos un cascabel pequeñito para que quedase más gracioso.

Monedero de ganchillo tamaño XL

Hace varias semanas publicamos un post en el que mostrábamos cómo hacer monederos de ganchillo con forma de rodajas de frutas. Si lo queréis recordar pinchad aquí.

Pues bien, me encargaron hace un tiempo una rodaja de limón, pero la querían para guardar también las llaves de casa, por lo que tendría que hacer un monedero tamaño XL. ¡Ningún problema! Si queremos agrandarlo, lo único que hay que hacer es seguir el patrón que llevábamos y tejer unas cuantas vueltas más, engrosar el ancho ligeramente y alargar la parte de ganchillo que cubre el ancho que no queda ocupado por la cremallera.

Y avance para la próxima semana, lanzamos una pista: son tres principalmente, y el tema de la fruta va mucho con ellos…. ¿qué será?

Judas’ bag

Today we’ll describe a cute and useful craft. As soon as I made it somebody baptized it as “Judas’ bag”, so that’s how I’ll call it from now on =) It is a little cylindrical bag, whose mouth can be closed tying two little cords. It’s crocheted using cotton thread.

These are the steps I followed:

1 – Crochet a rectangle with some figure or motif in it. Make some little semicircles on one of the long sides to pass the cords we’ll use to close the bag when it’s finished.

 

 

The openwork base shows the lining fabric. If we choose two contrasting colors it’ll look really nice

2 – Crochet an openwork circular base.

3 – Sew the two short sides of the rectangle to form a tube and sew the circular base to the side of the side of the tube that has no semicircles crocheted.

4 – Sew a fabric lining for the inside. It’ll look nicer and the crochet won’t stretch with the use.

5 – Make a couple of cords using the same thread that was used to crochet the bag. They’re very easy to make; you only need some thread and your fingers. Click here to see a video that explains the technique.

These little bags may be very useful. You can use them to carry jewellery when travelling, to store your headphones and prevent their cord to get tangled, to carry coins…

Estuches de ganchillo

Esta semana presentamos otro trabajo con ganchillo. En esta ocasión son estuches pequeños, para poder llevarlos en el bolso y que contengan lo indispensable.

Materiales:

– Hilo de algodón.

– Cremallera de 20 cm.

– Tela para hacer el forro.

– Adornos varios.

– Ganchillo, aguja e hilo.

En la imagen superior presentamos dos modelos: el primero, morado con el forro azul marino, está tejido de la siguiente manera:

– La primera fila es una cadeneta que abarque un poco menos de la longitud total de la cremallera (contando la tela).

– La segunda fila es de punto bajo, para reforzar el borde del estuche, porque ahí nos apoyaremos para coser la cremallera y el forro posteriormente.

– Las filas siguientes siguen el mismo patrón: un punto alto, dos puntos de cadeneta, y otro punto alto dejando un punto bajo de la fila anterior libre. De esta forma queda una estructura calada que deja ver la tela del forro. Aquí se puede jugar con el contraste de colores para hacer más llamativo el estuche y destacar la trama del tejido.

– La última fila será de punto bajo, para que quede igual que el extremo opuesto, más fuerte.

El otro estuche es más sencillo de confeccionar puesto que el propio hilo hace degradados de colores, así que sólo será cuestión de tejer los puntos seguidos.

Cuando tenemos tejido el ganchillo, se dobla la pieza a lo largo y con el mismo ganchillo se unen los extremos. después daremos la vuelta para que esa costura quede por dentro. Otra opción es coser con una aguja y el mismo hilo del estuche. Así no hace falta darle la vuelta al tejido.

Después toca hacer el forro de tela, al que añadiremos después la cremallera. Para ajustar mejor todo, es preferible hilbanar primero las piezas y después dar las puntadas definitivas que aseguren la costura. Una vez juntas la tela y la cremallera, lo uniremos al estuche de ganchillo con cuidado de no acercar demasiado el tejido a la cremallera, para poder garantizar la apertura y cierre de la misma sin problemas.

Finalmente se le pueden añadir detalles con hilo de otro color y/o elementos como botones u otras piezas decorativas.

Por experiencia comentaré que estos estuches duran igual que cualquier otro comprado en tiendas. El morado lleva 7 años cumpliendo su papel a las mil maravillas, ya sea como estuche escolar o como neceser para lápices de ojos y labios.

Hedgehog amigurumi

I wanted to make a simple amigurumi animal, and I chose a hedgehog:

The pattern is actually very similar to a mouse, since it is based on a drop-shaped body, although hedgehog’s ears are smaller. I added a cardboard base in the inside to make it more stable. Also, when sewing the eyes I tried to make them look “alive” by leaving a tiny clear area that looks like a sparkle.

This is the pattern for the body and the ears:

I sewed the prickles all over the body, and applying some eye shadow with a little brush I highlighted some details at the snout, between the eyes and among the prickles.

I will keep thinking on new patterns; maybe in the future I can build Noe’s ark =P

Crochet wallet

This is a simple and light wallet for those who need something that easily fits into any pocket. I have used cotton thread to crochet it. It has some advantages over paper wallets, as it is more malleable and more resistant.

In this case I didn’t include any compartment for bills but it could be easily added, or otherwise we could put the bills in one of the card pockets. But this is basically a wallet to carry a couple of cards and some coins (for the coffee machine, for example).

Amigurumies are crocheted or knitted stuffed toys. This is actually a Japanese art, where different figures (mainly animals) are crocheted and then stuffed with cotton, cloth or seeds. Once we get to know the technique, we can make our own designs. There are several simple patterns in the Internet that we can use as an easy start. This mouse is an example:

Learning how to make spheres may be very useful for many designs, since most amigurumies are made of several spheres of different sizes.

Star stitch

When I got tired of making lovers’ knot, I started working on this other design I found on the Internet. It is called star stitch. At first I tried to make a scarf, but after some lines it looked too compact (or maybe it was my fault, since I usually make tight stitches), so I decided to alternate two lines of star stitch and two of double stitches. This is how it looks:

This scarves look nice if they are not too long; just enough to cover the neck and join the two ends with a simple “brooch”.

Although we’re used to wear long scarves that wrap several times around our necks, this other style looks simple and nice, and feels warm as well

The “brooch” is very easy to make. First we make a circle on chain stitches, and we make several lines of single stitches one over the other, until it takes the shape of a button. Then we make a chain that is long enough to embrace the two ends of the scarf when bent in two parts (the chain). Finally, we sew the two parts together to get the accessory ready to use.

I’ve seen some other new stitches I want to try, so when I learn any of them I’ll post it here to enlarge my pattern collection =). I also want to try new styles on the ends of the scarves…

Crochet flower brooch

This is the third kind of brooches I’ve recently made. This time, I chose crochet and a kind of yarn that has a pattern on brown and white. Making this brooch is this simple:

1) We make 5 chain stitches and we connect the first and the last with a slip stitch to make a circle.

2) We make 10 single stitches around the circle, covering the chain by working through the central hole of the circle.

3) After finishing the previous step, we make 7 chain stitches and connect them to the second single stitch with a slip stitch. We make other 7 chain stitches and connect them leaving a free single stitch. We repeat this to make the five petals.

4) We make a last round of slip stitches on the chain ones to strengthen the petals and make them look nice.

And that’s how we make the flower. I have sewed a little pearl in the center of it to hide the brooch’s base, e pronto! Here we have our little flower:
